Yen Chau district’s Sap Vat commune recognised as new-style rural area

The People's Committee of Yen Chau district held a ceremony on December 28 to announce the decision of the Chairperson of the provincial People's Committee recognising Sap Vat commune as a new-style rural area in 2023.

With 11 hamlets, Sap Vat is home to over 1,000 households with more than 4,600 people belonging to three ethnic groups, of whom ethnic minorities account for 95%.

Implementing the national target programme on new-style rural area building, the communal People's Committee has launched a plan to instruct the work, assigning specific tasks to relevant officials.

Sap Vat commune has so far this year completed the construction of 7.4 km of rural roads and 11.4 km of main intra-field roads, with a total cost of over 8.4 billion VND (346,391 USD), of which over 5.3 billion VND was raised by locals and 2.8 billion VND was sourced from the state coffer.

As of December 2023, the commune had completed 19 criteria and 57 targets set for a new-style rural area. Its annual income per capita reached over 42.1 million VND, and agricultural production value surpassed 70 million VND per hectare.

The rate of active labourers stood at 70%, and up to 95% of local households gained access to electricity. The locality’s poverty rate was 12.8%.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong presents certificates of merit to collectives and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to new-style rural area building.

On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to three collectives and eight individuals, and the district People’s Committee granted certificates of merit to six collectives and 17 individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to new-style rural area building./.
