Ngoc Chien commune meets new-style rural standards

The People's Committee of Muong La district on December 25 held a ceremony to announce a decision of the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee recognizing Ngoc Chien commune as meeting new-style rural standards in 2023. Ngoc Chien is the first commune in Muong La district to meet new-style standards according to the set of criteria for the 2021-2025 period.

Implementing the national target programme on building new-style rural areas, with the support of the State, Ngoc Chien commune has mobilized the engagement of the entire political system and people. Since 2016, 833 households have donated land with a total area of 33,000 square meters to build rural roads. The total money donated by the people to build rural roads and community works hit over 115 billion VND (4.74 million USD).

Ngoc Chien commune has so far cemented or asphalted all commune, village and inter-village roads, ensuring smooth traffic. All roads in alleys and hamlets are clean, beautiful, and convenient for travel all year round.

People in the commune have actively transformed crop structure towards modernity, sustainability, and higher production value. They have focused on developing community-based tourism. As a result, their average income per capita reached 41.9 million VND per person per year. The multidimensional poverty rate has decreased to 11.2%. In December 2023, Ngoc Chien completed 19 criteria and 57 targets for new-style rural construction.
