Son La enhances cooperation with Lao provinces

The People's Council of Son La province and the People's Councils of Laos’ Bokeo, Phongsaly, and Oudomxay provinces held talks to exchange experience on People's Council work.

Attending the event were Nguyen Thai Hung, member of the provincial Party Committee’s standing board and Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Cha A Cua, member of the provincial Party Committee’s standing board and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Council; Chomsilat Tanapan, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Bokeo; Thongsi Sausiphom, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Phongsaly; and Khamphon Phimmachan, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Oudomxay.

Hung expressed his joy to welcome the People's Council delegations from the neighbouring provinces of Laos and shared experience and solutions to improve the quality of verification of reports, projects, and draft resolutions presented at People's Council meetings.

The Lao provinces’ leaders briefed the hosts of the organisational structure, and the inspection and supervision situation of their People's Councils in recent times. They expressed their hope that the People's Council of Son La province will share and exchange experience on issues related to the organisation, tasks and powers of the People's Council, as well as the inspection and supervision over the implementation of resolutions of the People's Council's meetings, and the making of decisions on and supervision of the implementation of local socio-economic development plans; and the delivery of advice to serve activities of the provincial People's Council.

The guests also proposed the Son La People's Council provide training to improve professional skills for officials and deputies of the People's Councils of the provinces.
